Cooking from the heart - Mentarang with Spicy Oyster Sauce

Ahaks.. Title tak hingat.. chewah.. Well my hubby just got back from landscape shooting at Pantai Jeram, Kuala Selangor. I didn't follow him this time sbb malas nak bangun @ 5.30am.. erk.. He brings home mentarang bought from Pantai Jeram. I was introduce to this mentarang thingy by my husband's family. Never heard of it before.

So my first attempt cooking this mentarang was a great success!! hahaha created my own recipe main campur2 je suma barang.


Mentarang with Spicy Oyster Sauce (2 person):

1. First of all, kena basuh mentarang tu bersih2 sbb they are very muddy.
2. Blend together 1 biji bawang besar, 4 ulas bawang putih and 3 biji cili padi.
3. Panas kan kuali and letak minyak lebih kurang 5 sudu besar (jgn letak sikit sgt ok).
4. Goreng bawang besar yg dipotong bulat smpai naik bau.. then masukkan bahan2 yg diblend tadi.
5. After bahan2 tu dah sebati and nampak berminyak sket barula masukkan sos tiram. I guna lebih kurang 3 sudu besar. Masukkan garam and mentarang and gaul sehingga sebati. Kalau nak bagi kuah nampak gelap sikit letak 1/2 sudu besar kicap manis cap kipas udang.
6. Masak sampai kuah mentarang tu jadi pekat and kemudian boleh la terus dimakan dgn nasi yg baru masak panas2. Yummeh..

1st time dengar mentarang...mcm sedap jek...camner nak makan??sedut cam siput ker atau cam lala? nampak yummy...

sedap cik puan.. dekat perlis ade rasenye.. spesis siput gak ni.. hahaha masak main campak2 je :D

Pernah singgah kat stall tepi jln yg jual mentarang yg dah masak. Itu my first time rasa mentarang ni. Ada dua pilihan kat stall tu, yg bakar atau rebus. For me bakar lah sedap psl dia jadik crispy on the outside, soft inside. Kalau yg rebus, agak yuccky psl agak gooey isi dlmnya (maybe psl mentarang ni agak besar saiznya kan?)
